Gathering Seed

So(e)wn Finissage Event

May, 2026, Sauerbier House

To close of the exhibition So(e)wn, the event, Gathering Seed, took place at Sauerbier House. This event invited community members to hear from guest speaker, Peter MacDonald, Chairperson of Woodcroft Morphett Vale Neighbourhood Centre, and Seed Library Coordinator, who discussed seed saving in the City of Onkaparinga. Guests learned about saving and packaging seeds to take home.

The event activated the installation central to the exhibition, Seeds for Quiet Activism. Participants were invited to harvest food, herb and flower seeds from the artwork to package and take home to grow. The event brought together community to share seeds an act of quiet activism, subtly challenging corporate control over the food systems, fostering community resilience, preserving biodiversity and combating the current cost of living crisis.
