Gardening Memories
Sauerbier House
May/June2024
Investing time and care in the garden, building ecological function, a reciprocal exchange of nurture occurs. The mind and nature are restored. The mind wanders, rambles as the nasturtium grows, while sensory experiences are recalled and imprinted. Sights and smells bring up recollections, revealing what is in the mind. A process of gardening memories.
Memories of self and place are realised through eco-autobiography, as connections are formed between internal and external self. Memories and materials from the garden are combined, describing the intertwining of human and non-human lives.
