Upcoming: Print and Dye with Plants

6 week course: Saturday afternoons

​

When: Sat 10 May – Sat 21 Jun (excluding 7 June long-weekend)

Time: 12.30pm – 4.30pm

Where: Adelaide Central School Of Art 

Level– Beginners onwards

 

In this six week course participants will learn how to extract pigment directly from plant material on to paper and fabric. Using flowers, leaves and seeds, you will learn how to make detailed prints and patterned and flat colour dye effects. Participants are encouraged to bring plant materials from their own gardens. The processes learned will enable participants to realise finished artworks but also to build meaning into larger print, textile and mixed media artworks.

All materials supplied. Optional: Reusable kitchen gloves, an apron, notebook and pencil.

The short course will include:

  • Print and dye WH&S

  • Mordants

  • Eco-print on paper

  • Eco-print on fabric

  • Vat dying fabric and yarn

  • Bundle dying fabric

Past: Monotype Printing with Plants 

When: Saturday, 1st February, 2025

Time: 9:30am - 4:30pm

Location: Adelaide Central School of Art, 7 Mulberry Drv, Glenside, SA

Description:A one day workshop learning how to use plants to create monotype prints on paper. You will use ink to make one of a kind prints, experimenting with different plants, leaves, roots and flowers. You’ll learn how to compose your image, experiment with colour, layering, texture, papers and use a printing press. Participants will create several complete artworks.

Time: 9:30am - 4:30pm daily

PAST :Printing with Plants: Learn to make prints on paper directly from plant material 

When: Sunday, 27th October, 2024

Time: 11am-3pm

Location: Duthy Street Art Supplies, 6 Duthy Street, Unley SA

Description: In this one day alternative printmaking workshop you will learn how to make prints on paper directly from plant matter using heat, water and pressure. You will learn which plants produce pigment through experimentation, printmaking safety, how to process the prints, and prepare them for framing. Participants will each take home a number of samples and completed prints. 

Participants are encouraged to bring leaves, flowers and seeds from their gardens, and an apron.

A materials pack will be provided with enough materials to continue the process at home.
